FGR 2500 V6 History

The idea to make a unique motorcycle with the world highest cubic capacity and with the best available components had Mr. Miroslav Felgr already in 2001. In 2005, after a successful demand at the Ministry of Industry and Trade for a grant for the development of FGR 2500 V6 engine, the same designer as that for our first motorcycle FGR 125 GP, Mr. Ulrich Kreuj from Vodňany began the endless drawing work.

In 2007 the engine manufacture work finished and it was officially presented on 25th January 2008 in the company FPOS-Metal, where it had been made. The interested people could see the engine at the exhibition MOTORCYCLE 2008 in Prague Holešovice and also at several regional exhibitions.

At the end of 2008, the first round of the tender for the designer was held. The company selected the 11 best motorcycle projects from the 45 applicants and these advanced to the second round, whose deadline was the last day of February 2009. The winner was Stanislav Hanuš, second place went to Ladislav Skoda and Petr Vanek finished as the third. These three applicants got also a financial reward.

At the same time, the second grant from the Ministry of Industry and Trade was approved to finish the motorcycle.

In 2009, there was the manufacture of the frame, swingarm and other components and the design work was also running.

Year 2010 was a year of adjustments, finishing operations and the first motorcycle testing on closed roads. At the end of that year, two prototypes were completed.

On 14thJanuary 2011, a FGR Midalu motorcycle presentation ceremony took place in the cultural house in Usti nad Orlici.

The same year in late April, there was a successful opponency proceeding in the company FPOS and the project was given to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

In May 2011 on the autodrome in Vysoké Mýto there was the prototype homologation and it was approved at the first test and from June you could see this motorcycle on the East-Bohemia roads.

The public had the opportunity to see the motorcycle at the exhibitions in Prague / 3th – 6th March 2011 / and in Bratislava /17th - 20th March 2011 /

Six of these motorcycles as the zero series is foreseen for 2012.
