Miroslav Felgr

His many years life's dream has matured : build a Czech motorcycle racing. In a country where the sport has become a Cinderella, the post-revolutionary atmosphere opened doors for those handy ones. In Usti nad Orlici there is one of them.

"If I my cousin had not sat me down on the motorbike in 1966 and we did not go to the road races to Hořice I might never have known that. At that time I was nestled to start in the field racing. , Off roads ' also were my first motorbikes that I built. "So recalls his beginnings Miroslav Felgr (* 11 October 1951), who, along the incredible forty seasons, lives, works and invents in the world of fast motorcycles. The peer of many generations of enthusiastic all-rounder, who in the seventies and eighties in a great personal, physical and financial victims kept alive our road racing. Today, however, the native of Ústí nad Orlicí remained practically alone. Vlastimil Rain, Vaclav Rathouský, Bedrich Fendrich, B. Vanous, Paul Zubatý, Paul Petracek and Bohumil Staša have abandoned their activities long time ago. Miroslav Felgr story is even more remarkable by going on in time of our changed circumstances and adapting to new realities was not easy. He did it well and achieved many personal goals. But it does not stop his activities.

Between the two World Wars, in Bohemia, motorcycle manufacturers and dealers could be counted in tens. Motorcycle spirit remained enshrined in the country after the political changes after the Second World War. Primarily due to Jawa CZ Strakonice the sports enthusiasts received a good foundation for the pursuit of their passion. But since the early 70ties of the last century with the decline of production of these motorcycle types, there was a fundamental change. A number of home-built structures of extraordinary qualities were born and were able to keep racing alive in the Czech Republic. After more than twenty long years in the 2003 season other domestic motorcycle title FGR 125 GP stood at the starting line. The Czech novelty was built in the racing department of MOTO FGR, which is a segment of Ústí nad Orlicí company FPOS - Metal Ltd.. which is currently a major sponsoring carrier, and thanks to which the keen project was implemented. His spiritual father was a die-hard enthusiast, now on the edge of sixty, Miroslav Felgr from Usti nad Orlici.

After the first Mr.Felgr’s contacts with the former designer of Strakonice motocross machines CZ Mr. Ing. Oldřich Kreutz the first motor FGR was put in the drawing in 2001. This motor was first shot on the 12th January 2003 in Usti nad Orlici. Liquid-cooled two-stroke single cylinder tilted forward had bore and stroke 54 x 54.5 mm, had a suction reed valve and was equipped with a Keihin carburetor? 39.5 mm and gave a performance as far as the threshold of 33 kW/13 000 min-1. Surface treatment Nikasil on cylinders was carried out in collaboration with the Strakonice expert Bohumil Staša. Noteworthy is water-cooled engine karter in which the rich labyrinth in the full body cast ensured reliable cooling during engine operation. Design "gems" was a special solution of the six-speed gearbox, which could be, using a jig, very quickly taken out and immediately carry out the composition of the new gear. Engine dimensions also allowed for its incorporation into a Honda frame. Meatballs part of the machine is the work of the designer Mr. Ing. Zdeněk Špindler from VMK Engineering Usti nad Orlici. The machine FGR 125 GP was the first generation engine built into the frame backbone Honda made of aluminum plates. Furthermore, WP front forks was used upside down with a gliders diameter of 41 mm. Simple front disc Brembo brakes? 290 mm floating disc Rear FPOS? 187 mm, Dunlop tires 17 "spoke Marchesini wheels, fuel tank 12 l, machine weight 75 kg. For the 2004 season, the FGR 125 GP machine of the second generation was introduced. The engine was installed in an entirely new truss chrommolybden tube frame manufactured in the company FPOS - Metal Ltd., and also the engine got improvements. This was an exhaust throttle, the crankshaft diameter was modified. At the first look you appreciate modern Marchesini wheels 17 " with many spokes, new tubular frame and nice shape of the engine hood. Swingarm was milled from two pieces of special alloy CERTAL. The care for the electronic equipment has been entrusted to Mr. Ing. Pivoňka from Žďár.

It does not finish the developments in Ústí nad Orlicí, by far the most advanced stand of our motorcycle racing. Since 2005 the FGR engine has had several modifications. The most important one was prepared in the form of a brand new engine in 2010. It was jointly developed by the technicians from companies FPOS Ltd. and MOTO FGR and several foreign experts. Also fairing design got several modifications during the time. These have been since 2005 result of cooperation between companies MOTO FGR Ltd and Brno company MOTO FORZA. The first Czech road race motorcycle 125 FGR was the first machine in the modern history of the Czech Republic, which started in the road race world championship. It had its premiere with the racer Karel Májek at Czech Republic Grand Prix in Brno in 2007, for the second time in the same race in 2009, when Ladislav Chmelik held the handlebar. He reached the target tape as the 29th. For the third time the team appeared with the wild card in 2010, again with Ladislav Chmelík. Since the beginning of the project's the aim is to go full serial MOTO GP, so we'll see how this tale eventually goes to an end... Moto 3 is so close ...

In 2003 two prototypes of the engine were manufactured and tested. Later that same year the team MOTO FGR began to ride Series of the international Championship of the Czech Republic and during this serial, which the FGR engine was inserted into Honda frame. Hired was an experienced rider Michal Brezina from Prague. Before the first race, which took place in Trenčín Airport, many people interviewed Mr. Felger why he goes there to take the last place. He, however, responded with the icy calm "We're going there to win. " From this bold assertion Mr. Felgr was not far away. Michael, shortly after the start, came to second place and pulled to the first racer Pavkovic. But the racer who rode at the moment in third place, sent Michael to the ground. Fortunately it was only a slight slip and Czech motorcycle could go on in the race. Michael managed to fight the way back into second place and he kept riding so as far as to the finish, and the first fantastic result was reached. The team also saw his first victory and that at the third race at the airport in Hradec Králové. Another victory was in Most, after which Michael, in the meantime, found himself on the first place in the international Czech Republic championship. After the race season these great results brought the total second place, by two points less the the winner Mrs. Margaret Janáková from Dvur Kralove. Already in this initial season, Michael was awarded a wild card for Brno race, but the team decided not to be able to take part with honour at this festival and cancelled the participation in the race.
In the 2004 season the team went out for the first time with the Swingarm FGR and tubular frame, also a FGR make. Michal Březina started the season promisingly, because he was the second behind Mr. Vaclav Bittman in the international Czech Republic championship first race at the Hungaroring. In June of this year, the company Mr. Felgra FPOS - Metal introduced Czech brand new motorcycle FGR - engine, frame, swingarm - all made in the company. Motorcycle baptism was not missed even by the then Minister of Industry and Trade Milan Urban, who also had the motorcycle put on the company yard and traveled on it the first meters. This festival was attended by many celebrities of the motorcycle industry, let us mention Mr. Bohumil Staša, who helped to assemble the motorcycle. In this well running season, unfortunately, the Ústí nad Orlicí team rider was injured in the third race and he could not finish the season. It is worth mentioning two other results: in the colors of FGR in Hungary, Lukáš Rážek won in one race of the international Czech Republic championship, in the IDM German championship home rider Florian Kresse won a great fifth place.
For 2005, in which the team had its own new FGR fairings and engaged despite the opposition of local fans two foreign riders - the said Mr. Florian Kresse and Magda Attila from Hungary. It was a year of varying race results. In one race of the International Championship of Czech Republic Florian managed to win. The best Attila result was the 5th place at the European Championships in Croatia, that is the most appreciated place for MOTO FGR team.

In the 2006 season Florian Kresse remained in the team, Michal Vecko was taken in the team as the second rider. Unfortunately, either this year did not develop according to the expectations of the team. Minor faults and a bit of bad luck took the team a good placement and the season results remained behind expectations. Due to disagreements during the season, the team said goodbye to Florian. The young racer Mr. Kája Májek from Brno rode for us in the last race in Brno, who won in his first season a very respectable fourth place and was third among juniors. This performance earned him a place in the team for 2007.

Team manager became Mr. Jirka Šrámek, who, for several years, worked successfully with Mr. Michal Filla. The second driver was Mr.Karel Pešek, who, however, before the third race left the team after an agreement. A first significant result came in the second race of the Championship of the Czech Republic at the Hungarian Pannoniaring, where Kaja Májek took second place because of his hard effort. After Kaja Pesek has left, the team borrowed old-new driver Attila Magda for the European championship in Croatia. His twelfth place at the finish was beyond expectations. Kaja Májek, after the unsuccessful start, took the thirteenth place and his first points from the European championship. After Rijeka the team moved to Brno for the third race of the International Championship of the Czech Republic. Kaja improved during the trainings and in the race, it was an appreciated fourth place and the third among juniors. The forth race of the International Championship of the Czech Republic, which took place in Most, was disappointing. After the start of the race the exhaust throttle control unit stopped operating and the motorcycle did not far reach full power. Even so, Kaja Májek did not give up the race and finished in eighth place. During the season, the team manager, Mr. Sramek applied for the wild card for the World Championships race in Brno. Karel Májek got the wild card and so a Czech motorcycle appeared on the world stage after so many years,. Kaja Májek qualified for the race with time of 2:15,1. He started with success and rode before both racers with wild cards, Michael Prášek and Kaja Pešek. In the sixth round, he had to resign for a minor defect and did not finish the race. Even so, the team left a good impression. Worth noting are definitely fans with flags FGR who deserve thanks, as well as all others who believed that the team qualifies to race. After the World Cup, the team moved to the Hungaroring, where the penultimate race of the Czech championship took place. Kaja started well, unfortunately, already in the first round and because of too much effort he fell down when on the first place and the race ended for him in the hospital. Already after a week, the last race of the International Championship of the Czech Republic took place in Brno. Still slightly shaken Kaja Májek unfortunately started among the last racers and gradually he had to fight hard from the fifteenth-place up to the third, where he fought with Prášek, who, in the end, was faster and fourth place left for Kája. For the last race of the season the team went to the spanish Cartagena for the Spanish Championship with a not easy task to score. In training sessions, our driver was looking for himself. He failed unfortunately the start of the race and with varying weather he finally arrived in the nineteenth place.

In the 2008 season, riders Alen Győrfi from Hungary and Italian Michel Zonca rode for our team. Michel Zonca rode only the Italian championship and so the other races were new for him. The very first race was good to excellent, because Alen Gorfi was able to win the European Cup in Hungary Pannoniaring race. In the middle of the season Czech rider Jakub Kornfeil rode for the team MOTO FGR and he kept riding for us for the rest of the season and he managed to take the 3rd place in the international championship of the Czech Republic. In the last race of the European Cup in Poznan, Michael Prášek and Lada Chmelik went for our team. We tested Láďa Chmelík for the 2009 season. In this race Michael Prášek managed to win. In November, the team with James Kornfeil went to the Spanish Valencia for the Spanish Championship. Despite the efforts of the team he did not qualify for the race from 73 riders.

The 2009 season started for our team with the rider Laďa Chmelik, according to the original plan Jakub Kornfeil was to go and, but the team ultimately did not agree with him. After the first race of the IDM, we agreed with the talented German rider Sebastian Kreuziger who rode for our team the whole season of the last year. For the first time in our seven-year history, we made the entire series of IDM. Unfortunately, no race brought us score. We were more pleased with the Czech Championship, where Laďa Chmelík became overall winner in the junior category in spite he did not go one race because of a conflict of terms and one race he did not finish. The most successful race was in Most, where Sebastian managed to get our second pole position in the overall history and scored second place when losing the first place by 2 thousandths of the second. Laďa, in the same race, made the fastest round, despite a bad start it was enough for second overall place in the Czech championship. For the second time we managed to get a wild card at World Championships in Brno, where we managed to qualify and Laďa finished in 29th place. This season we have completed 13 races, which is the biggest number in our history.

In the 2010 season we aimed to get the title of Czech Republic champion and the race Moto GP in Brno. Additionally, we went to the German championship two races. The beginning of the season was the most successful of all biginnings, because Lada Chmelík took the third place at the finish of the Hungaroring in Hungary and second place in the Czech championship. In the next race in Brno, he was the fourth and the third in the Czech championship. Then came the failure of the Hungarian Pannoniaring from second place due to a faulty cylinder. His courage, however, Laďa improved in Most, where only 5 riders finished the race when battling for second place in two seconds. Laďa finished as the fourth, the second for the Czech Championship. We met a great misfortune in Poznan, Poland, where our driver had to stop riding when on the first place and that for the same defect as at Pannoniaring. In mid-August the season peak came and it was the race with the wild card at Moto GP in Brno, which was attended by Laďa for the second time after his experience last year. However, the conditions were variable because mainly semi-dry racetrack was ridden. Qualification was finally counted from the first training. Laďa passed along the first round with the last group of six riders he fought five rounds against. But then the motorcycle was losing power and that group escaped him a little. In the ninth round he was forced to go into the booth and he did not finish the race when on 23rd place. The last race was the final of the German championship in Hockenheim, where we rode for the second time in this year season. With the start from the 26th position he reached the 19th place at the finish. In total, this meant the fourth place in the Czech championship and the second among juniors when finishing four of six races of the Czech Championship.

PERTI

Pavel Petráček

Motorcycles Perti are already an almost forgotten type from the recent past time. But they are an integral part of the Czech mosaic of engineering skills and craftsmanship that is certainly worth noting. Father and soul of these projects was the recently 65-years-old Paul Petracek (* 24 May 1942) from Hnátnice near Usti nad Orlici. The way to the results of his efforts was really difficult, because he, the son of a tradesman with a single employee, had a path to education in shutdown mode because of the “glorious” regime. But he did not give up. He graduated from the Vocational School at the local factory Kovostav and became mechanic and later graduated from the Engineering School. Before his military duty in 1961, he modified his first motorcycle 175. Its remade version saw the light of day in 1963. After that 175 Mr. Petracek built in 1970 his next race motorcycle, which was the Perti 50. At that time he already got a lot of experience when working with Česká Třebová racer and builder of machinery VAB, Mr. Bohuslav Vaňous. The Perti 50 had an air-cooled engine? 40 x 39 mm, power 7.3 kW (10 HP), the intake distribution with valves and a four-speed gearbox, which was built in its own tube frame CrMb. Perti 50 had rear shock absorbers from Jawa 50, drum brakes also from Jawa, 19 "wheels with wire strung on rims Borrani, fiberglass bonnet and 8 liter fuel tank made of aluminum sheet. In 1971, the Perti 50 had an innovation and alternatively, a six-or. seven-speed gearbox was put, contact the battery ignition was used, and later, the original wet clutch was replaced wit a dry clutch. Newly, the machine had 18-inch wheels. In Petráček workshop there were finally assembled 4 engines. With the advent of a class of 80 cm3 the engine (? 48 x 44 mm) was reconstructed to liquid cooling and it got a new crankshaft. In October 1973, the first drawings of a brand new Perti 125 started to be drawn on the drawing boards and this mtorcycle had its debut in 1974 on the classic racetrack in Hořice. The Perti 125 was a liquid-cooled single cylinder (? 56 x 50 mm), tilted 30 degrees upward from the horizontal plane with the traditional slide distribution, one BVF carburettor? 32 from the former East Germany, a six-speed gearbox and a dry clutch. All parts of the engine and gearbox are home-made, including the chassis of steel pipes, drum brakes, front with two keys or, one key at the back. Actively involved in the manufacture of a new motorcycle was also Mirek Felgr, a friend who wanted to start racing and so there was an agreement to manufacture one more motorcycle parallel to it for him. It should be noted, however, that a number of local enterprises, especially Kovostav, later renamed Elitex, acommodated Petráček’s activities. Also Perti 125 passed during the time through continuous innovation. The original front steel fork was replaced with duralumin steel fork. There were problems with the imposition of the crankshaft on the background of the development of a new aluminum engine block and the engine did not lack some components made of the electron. The culmination of Petráček’s 23 years work on fast motorcycles was the Perti 250. After a year of development Perti 250 was firstly used in the series of Czech Republic championship in 1980. The most powerful machine of that type had a liquid-cooled single cylinder? 56 x 50 mm, or 54 × 54 mm, power 41.9 kW (57 HP) / 11 500 min-1 with the arrangement of cylinders in a row with axial pre-seat, slide disribution, 2 Mikuni 34 carburetors, six-speed gearbox was used from Jawa, the machine had a dry clutch. The engine was mounted in a home-made tube frame, rear suspension forks were first solved with the Uni-track system, later Cantilever system. Perti 250 had a single-disc brake? 320 mm with Brembo brake valve at the back? 230 mm, five-spoke wheels Vihur 18 ", Michelin tires and 15 liter fuel tank. It was built only one piece of this type. The Perti race motorcycles have been ridden by Paul Petracek, Miroslav Felgr, B. Vanous, Paul jagged, Zdenek Rybka, Michelle Placák Martin Spilka, Vladimir Vana, Boušek Peter, Paul and Radek Kristek and Joseph Urbanec.
